Immigrant Defense Committee Water Bottle Action

WHEN: Sept. 9, 2008 from 11am to 1pm

WHERE: 123 N. Wacker (In front of Wells Fargo corporate office)

WHY: Failed US immigration policy of border militarization has forced thousands of men, women and children to cross into the US seeking economic opportunity through the perilous Sonoran Desert. In this brutal heat 148 crossers have died in the Tucson sector in the past year and thousands have died inhumane deaths since 1998! Immigrants in Arizona face the desert, racist county enforcement actions and vigilante groups that terrorize and abuse immigrant families.

We cannot stand by while immigrant families continue to suffer. The border is not only in Arizona; solidarity with the Arizona humanitarian aid efforts is in Chicago, too!

WHAT: Help us pass out water bottles and information that remember those who have perished crossing into the US because of unjust US policies of death. Please join us to raise awareness and to honor those who have died making that journey.
