Definitions for talking about Racism

Encounter - Have learners work together in small groups to come up with definitions to the following words to establish where they are starting: race, racism, racial identity, white supremacy, white privilege, ethnicity, internalized racism and multi-cultural.  It is fine for there to be disagreements among the groups.  Present the definitions powerpoint presentation.   Explain that the definitions in this presentation are meant to give us a common starting point in talking about race.

Reflect - Pause during the conversation for questions on terms as they arise.  How do these definitions compare with the definitions that were written in the small groups?  Do these definitions inspire any insights or revelations about race?
