Kansas City Sanctuary Family Accepts an Immigrant Family into Sanctuary
Big news! Our sister new sanctuary partner in Kansas City, the NSM Coalition of Greater Kansas City and the People of Faith for Hospitality and Justice have announced that they are supporting and accompanying a family threatened with deportation and separation. Please read the attached press release to learn more about this big step of faith and solidarity. The family is of Mexican descent, has made their life in the US for more than 15 years and has five children, 3 of whom are US citizens.
One of the church leaders in the KC sanctuary ministry is GrandView Park Presbyterian. Founded 118 years ago, they have been transformed in the last 10 years since launching a ministry of welcome, creating a new church outreach to Latino immigrants and a new common community. Now they have two pastors, one from the PC-USA and one from the Presbyterian Church of Guatemala. Here is a link to read an article titled "Opening Doors" about their new life together.

The Kansas City New Sanctuary, Milwaukee Voces de la Frontera New Sanctuary and us here in Chicago, make up the Midwest region of NSM involvement. In the coming days, we will keep you informed as we find out more about how the KC sanctuary movement would best appreciate our support.
Please pray for the continued strength and lifting of spirits of the family, for GrandView Park PC and for the many leaders of the KC Sanctuary Movement as they take a new step in their faithful and courageous sanctuary ministry.
